Rudranath  June 2011
Pics of Trek
We ( My wife and myself) decided to go for  trekking to Rudranath, We did this trek earlier also during 1995 summer with two other families (trekking friends) one from Mumbai and second from Jamjodhpur .

We started our journey at 8 PM on 3rd of June 2011 from Delhi, took Uttarakhand Roadways bus from ISBT Delhi and reached gopeshwar 11:30 AM next morning. Ticket was Rs. 374. We took shared jeep for sagar after taking lunch at Gopeshwar, in next 20 minutes at 1:30 PM we were in sagar. he took Rs 10 each ( full jeep can be hired for Rs 200). We stayed there in Rawat ji Atithi grah paying guest house

Three lodges are there in Sagar one is rawat jee atithi grah second is haryali and third  lodge is sonu.

We took one local boy to help in carrying our luggage he charged Rs 500 per day as we were carrying lots of luggage, normally charges are Rs 400 per day. Local people starts early morning and comes back next day, one day for going and second day for coming back. We took three days to reach and two days to come back.

5th June 2011 started from sagar at 6:15 am and reached at Pung at 10:30 am and stayed there. We pitched our tent there as we were carrying it but on rest of the places we stayed in the hut. We gave him Rs 310 for two persons dinner, tea and morning breakfast.

6th June we started at 5:30 am and reached satokhani/ Mool Kharak at 10:30 am. Here we stayed at the Jagmohan hut although the person carrying our luggage suggested to move further so that next day will be easy. Jagmohan  served food with love and affection. His hut has three partitions one where we slept had a space for 2-3 people and second had space for 4-5 persons and third is kitchen. In emergency 2-3 persons can sleep in the kitchen also. Here we enjoyed company of jugmohan and few other fellow travelers during our stay.

7th june we started at 5:30 am and reached  Lutee at 6:30 am . there we took tea and and again started at 7am and reached  Panar at  7:45 am. Panar is a beutiful bugyal, lots of peaks are visible from here in clear weather. Without any break we kept walking and  reached Pitradhar at 10:15am, the highest point of the trek, .We kept moving and reached Panchganga at 11am. After taking a tea, we again started and reached Rudranath at 12:15pm. Here we stayed at Bisht jee`s lodge although room(Dharmashala) belonging to temple are also available.

In the evening we visited the temple and attended the Arti. Night was very cold here. View around the temple was very beautiful. We did'nt feel like coming back once we were there. Trek to Rudranath temple is the most difficult trek out of Punch kedar's treks. We can see the face of Lord Shiva in the temple. These days many local devotees were visiting the temple because Shiv Puran  and Bhagwat recitation was going on.Lord Shiva's palki is broght here in the month of may end/June beginning and stays here for six months. Next six months Lord Shiva stays at Gopinath mandir Gopeshwar.

8th June  We got up at 4:45am after having cup of tea visited Mandir and than started back journey at 6:15 am. reached Panchganga at 8:15am.  We had a cup of tea and started again at 8:45am and reached pitradhar at 9:45am, Panar at 11:15am and Lute at 12:15pm, After taking lunch at Lutee we  started at 1:45 PM and reached satokhani at 2:15 PM and stayed there for the rest of the day. This time we pitched our tent outside Jugmohan`s hut. Although dinner and next days breakfast was served by Jagmohan.

9th June  we started at 6:20am. After 10-15 minutes it started raining but we continued moving and reached Pung at 9:30am. After having tea and snacks we left Pung at 10:30am and reached Sagar at 12:30pm.
9 - 11 June  we stayed at Sagar for these three days. We visited Mandal, Gopinath Mandir at Gopeshwar and the Sakleshwar  temple at Sagar only.

12 June took Bus from Sagar at 5am (starts from Mandal) and reached Deharadun at 4 pm. Again we took another bus at 5pm and reached Delhi at 2am. Our back journey was long  due to traffic jam.
